The Brake Room was a first-of-its-kind rest station built to support food delivery workers in New York City. Designed and produced as a fully functional public space, it provided free access to restrooms, seating, warmth, coffee and snacks, phone charging, and a place to a park bikes and take a break between deliveries.
The environment was developed using direct input from delivery workers and included inclusive signage, non-English-friendly graphics, localized NYC-inspired design, and a digital display featuring messages of appreciation from the city. Production included site design and fabrication, amenities planning, accessibility considerations, OOH and digital launch communications, and coordination with third-party delivery platforms. Built to prioritize dignity, care, and usability, The Brake Room became a heavily used community space and set a new standard for how brands can tangibly support essential workers.
